Dublin -San Pedro de Alcantara, Marbella , Spain

We departed for the  Irish Ferries Terminal at 06:30. Boarding commenced at 07:00. As I look out the ferry’s window I see the twin chimneys - the iconic emblem of Sandymount.

The trip will involve a three and a half hour crossing of the Irish Sea to Hollyhead on Irish Ferries Ulysses, a drive across England to London; an overnight with second son and his fianceé there; then on to Folkestone and from there via the Channel Tunnel to Calais.

Our first stop on the continent will be in Evereux, Normandy, where we are to stay at Le Relais du Bon’eure. . On arrival at the Chunnel, we were given the choice to depart on the 12:30 in lieu of 14:30. We were delighted to leave earlier

The Chunnel is wonderful -35 minutes from post to post. All the formalities were disposed of in UK so off the train and on our way in minutes!! We set off for Evreux, to our first port of call driving through the lush Normandy Countryside,  arriving 30 minutes later than planned as Le Relais du Bon ‘Eure, the Sat Nav had misbehaved and took us on a tour of some Normandy villages!!
