Days 9 - 16 Long Island - Dallas - Frankfurt - Dublin

Yesterday, Monday, we decided to so into NYC - we had little time as we were unable to leave until 13:30
Long Island Railroad - 40 minutes !!

We hit Macys and did a little damage to the credit card, returning on the 15:50.

We ate at Jameson’s - very acceptable

Today, Tuesday, we departed JFK for Dallas

and J picked us up and proceeded to the Hilton

Tomorrow Wednesday - op day !!

Our appointment was for 06:00 at the Baylor, Scott and White hospital.  Surgery at 08:00 - completed 1.5 hours - discharged at 15:00

Returned to hotel. Weather alert from tonight - snow and ice - until Saturday - hospitals and all schools closed. Shops closed early.

Today, it is snowing and icicles hang on the trees, which created  a scraping sound on the window during the night and into the morning , it reminded me of one of Shakespeare's sonnets - ‘when icicles hang by the wall.....’

It’s a good day for the telly!

Friday, after a cold night, the ice started to melt at midday. Another Telly day. I’m an expert on US politics at this stage.

To be here at the hotel in better weather, we could enjoy the pool and the outdoor fire alongside the barbecque

Saturday, and the weather improved; the ice began to melt and the main roads were clear. We went to a shopping centre just to get out, having been cooped  up in the hotel room since Wednesday evening, when we returned from the hospital. There was some debris on the roads - the results of some road accidents. We had missed the January sales so stocks were low and we didn’t purchase.

Sunday, we all left the hotel to drive once again to Dallas airport - J back to FL and we to Dublin via Frankfurt - the route with the shortest layover - 2 hours!! The flight was about one third full so once again, I had the three seats to lie across and sleep. As we approached Frankfurt, there was a lovely dawn I’ve been wearing the mask now for 13 hours and it’s hard going !!

I’m now on board - the last lap of the journey - Frankfurt to Dublin - 2 hours but we’ll lose an hour going west once again. The flight is packed - a little disconcerting in these Covid times!! Dallas is 7 hours behind Frankfurt and Dublin is 6!! I’ll be glad to be home once again - an eventful fortnight!!
